Well, in my country, Maslinsa is a very typical festival. It is usually celebrated at the end of winter, during the last week of February. We usually bake pancakes and serve them with butter, or honey, or jam, or other things. But the main thing about this festival is pancakes. Also on Sunday, at the end of this celebrating, we usually burn a scakrow on the square where people gather to celebrate, to sing songs, to dance, just to enjoy themselves seeing their friends. So I guess as it is a week-lasting holiday, it takes place both at home and in the streets. I… well, yes. The custom or the idea of this festival, I guess, is to say goodbye to winter and to celebrate the beginning of spring, which we are looking forward to. And also, if I’m not mistaken, it’s a bit connected to the religious calendar, because some people start keeping a religious diet. I don’t know the word. But, well, this week, during Muslim people eat lots of pancakes and like this fatty festival food. And then they restrict themselves to certain types of food that is permitted on this religious diet.
