Well, I enjoy visiting different kinds of exhibitions, and wherever there is an exhibition in the city, I certainly visit it. I recently visited a photographic exhibition at Bangladesh Shilpokala Academy SILED. It was organized by the SILED Photography Association. It was to exhibit photographs taken by various photographers across the country during the 1971 liberation war. The entry to the exhibition was free of charge, and it was visited by people from all walks of life. It lasted for a week, and I visited the exhibition on the first day with a couple of my friends. The exhibition was open between the hours of 5 p.m. and 10 p.m., and we visited it at 6 in the evening. We stayed there for about an hour and were moved by the photographs. Although all the photographs were in black and white, they were very powerful. Each photograph told a unique story. I was extremely shocked as I saw how people were tortured and killed by the Pakistani army during the war. I particularly remember a series of photographs where a very young child was snatched from its mother and killed in front of her eyes. I couldn't believe such inhuman things could be done by any human being. I felt terribly sorry for the mother and her child. I had always heard about the brutality of the Pakistani army during the liberation war but never imagined it could be so physical and brutal.
