And last year, as usual, this responsibility was fell upon my father and he undertook the task and granted us with a small amount of money. Additionally, Vishu is also known as the festival of light and sound. It is also customary to light up fireworks in order to celebrate the beginning of the agricultural year. So, you could hear these noises way past midnight as people would stay up, light in their fireworks and enjoy the day as they are welcoming the coming of the new year.
