I am an extremely introverted individual and I tend to avoid social interactions as much as possible. For me, to engage in such social occasions is quite rare. I was born and raised in Kerala, which is located in the southwestern coast of the Indian subcontinent. Kerala is separated from the rest of India by the western cuts. Hence, we developed our own social customs and traditions. One such tradition that has been celebrated is the Vishu Festival, which commemorates the beginning of the agricultural year. It is customary for the elders to gift money to the younger ones during the festival as an act of goodwill. During the last Vishu, my father has the head of the family to co-ord the tradition of gifting money to the younger ones. Additionally, Vishu is also famous for being the festival of lights and sound. People across Kerala would light up their fireworks in order to celebrate the coming of the new year. Although I usually prefer a quiet occasion, this was a special experience for me. I believe these are the memories that I will look back upon to evaluate the progress of my life in the future.
