Having a RTQ card I immediately thought of a river Amadarja which is extremely important to Uzbekistan and in fact one of the major rivers in Central Asia. It is particularly significant for the northern and northwestern parts of my country where millions of people depend on it either directly or indirectly. What I know about this river is that it flows through several Central Asian countries before reaching Uzbekistan. Running through or along the regions of Bukhara, Kharezan, and Kyrgyzstan, the river has played an essential role in the development of agriculture and settlements for centuries. Historically it was one of the main rivers feeding the Oral Sea, which unfortunately has largely dried up and left behind what’s known as the Kralkum Desert. I think the river is incredibly important because it’s a life learned for agriculture. A huge amount of farmland depends on its water for irrigation, allowing farmers to grow crops in the region with a very weak dry climate. In addition, it supports local systems which makes it valuable not only environmentally but also economically. is protecting properly managing its water resources has become a major priority because water scarcity affects the entire region. Personally, I find the river quite fascinating. It’s not just a geographical feature on a map, it has shaped a history, culture and the way of life, countless generations in Uzbekistan. Considering that it is such a precious natural resource, I believe that the responsibility for preserving weavers like this, like Amidaria, Astridaria and so on, so that future generation can also depend on them should be everyone’s responsibility.
