I don't know many traditional stories, but I do remember that my mother used to read me a fairy tale called Kurachkarabha before I would go to sleep. I was very little, so I don't remember a lot, but I think it features a man and a woman who had a hen. This hen laid a golden egg. Neither the man nor the woman could break it. However, a mouse that ran along flicked its tail and the egg broke. I think that the couple were very excited about the golden egg, so when it got broken like that, they were for some reason upset, though they couldn't try to break it before, so I don't really understand their logic, but alright. And I remember that the hen tried to calm them down and said that it would lay another egg, a simple one this time. I didn't know the moral of the story, and as a child I was very excited when I first heard it. Obviously it features a hen, and hens are very cute animals. Then I got older, I think it's cool. We also discussed different fairy tales, and I remember that our teacher told me that this ending was added much later to create a happy one. Before then, this golden egg broke, and it somehow cursed the village. There were a lot of misfortunes, and different areas of our really big country had its own misfortunes. I think that it makes a lot of sense considering that the moral of the story is probably that sometimes simple things are much better. It's quite debatable, though it is a good moral, but I do think that sometimes it is.
