I want to say about the time when my aunt asked me to tutor my younger cousin. It was last year when he had to take an exam to enter an exam to high school. I don’t know what it is in your country, but in Vietnam it’s even more significant than getting into university. The challenge that was my cousin struggled with the English, with one of the three compulsory subjects on the exam. So his mother had enrolled him to many HR classes of the most well-known teachers in our city, but it didn’t seem to be work and I became the last reason. I and my cousin were quite close, so my aunt hopes that I could encourage him to get into the school. I knew that it could make or break his future, so although my schedule was quite tight, I tried to set aside two evenings a week to tutor him. To me, motivation is essential to everything, so I began each lesson with a pep talk to acknowledge his process and give him praise for that. And I also pointed out the area where he could improve. Fortunately, after two months of tutoring, his score improved significantly and he could finally get into the high school that he wanted. I felt incredibly happy for him and from that experience, I also learned the importance of encouragement and empathy.
