Alright, so when it comes to unusual meals, honestly, nothing beats the time I ate rat meat at the traditional festival in my hometown. It happened a few years ago when my family and I joined a celebration held by an ethnic minority group. In our region, during the festival, there were tons of local dishes, and I was very excited to try something new. I spotted a plate of roast meat. It looked like a small bird, and without thinking much, I grabbed a piece. At first, it tasted amazing. It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and I was very proud of myself for being adventurous. But then, guess what? Someone leaned over and casually told me it was not a bird; it was actually a rat. The moment I heard that, I swear I almost dropped my plate. I felt so nauseous; honestly, I just wanted to throw up right there. I tried to stay calm because the locals seemed to love it, but inside, I was freaking out. Later on, I found out they used field rats, which are supposed to be cleaner and safer to eat compared to city rats. Even though I understood it was part of their culture, I still found it super creepy. I could not bring myself to eat any more of it. Looking back, it was hands down the most shocking meal I have ever had. It definitely taught me that food traditions can be really different across cultures. But if you ask me whether I would try rat meat again, honestly, no way.

And I was very excited to try something new. I sported a plate of roast meat. It looked like a small bird. And without thinking much, I rubbed a piece. At first, it tasted amazing. I was creepy on the outside and juicy on the inside. And I was very pretty proud of myself for being adventurous. But then, guess what? Someone learned over and culturally told me it’s worth not a bird. It would actually a mouse. And the moment I hear that, I swear I almost dropped my plate. I felt so roasted out my stomach. Honestly, I just wanted to throw up right there. I tried to say come because the locals seemed to love it. But inside, I was freaking out. Later on, I found out they were using five mice. We are supposed to be cleaner and safer to eat compared to city rust. Even though I understood it was part of their culture, I still found it super creepy. I could not bring myself to take all of it by. Looking back, it’s worth hands down the most shocking meal I have I ever had. It definitely told me that food traditions can be really different across cultures. But if you ask me whether I would try mouse meat again, honestly, no way.
