It’s one of those classic, really bulky, box-shaped bottles, but has more screen-in-case, in a wooden frame, and a pair of antenna sticking out of the top. And instead of a remote controller, it has so many little knobs to adjust the volume and channels manually. And it was incredibly heavy too. I remember having to muster all by strength just to lift it up for a few seconds, and save to say, it looked nothing like the sleep television most of us see today. But it has a certain old school charm, if you’re an antique lover like me. Now, what makes it special is the sentimental value attached to it. Back in the days, it was our family primary source of entertainment and information. As for their parents, it was the centerpiece of their childhood. They would often recount stories of how they and their siblings would all gather around it as kids, and watch their favourite black-and-white cartoon shows, and also watch the annual news broadcast during dinner with my grandparents. It was almost like a family tradition to bond over TV nights back then, and needless to say, it worked wonderfully in bringing the family together. In ways that I’d have any modern gadgets would even come close to replicating. Although it is no longer functional, we still keep it as some sort of family treasure, a reminder of the good old times, as my father always says.
