Band 6+: Describe your favourite city / town / village You should say • what city / town / village it is and when you went there • what the weather is like there • what you do when you're there and explain why exactly it's your favourite city / town / village

Well, when it comes to cities, um, my topic is definitely an Alexandria. It is located in the northern part of Egypt, uh, on, um, the mediterranean coast, as they call it. It is, um, a coastal gym. And being situated and overlooking the mediterranean sea, it enjoys a very nice mediterranean climate with not so hot summers and, uh, not so hard winters. However, these days winters are harsher than before due to climate change, I guess also, Theriez coming from the sea adds a very refreshing, wonderful touch to the city’s atmosphere. And there is a very nice, funny, um, anecdote about, uh, Alexandria, where people living there, uh, like to believe that, or like to attribute very good things, like good mood, uh, good health, to the iodine aroma comes coming from the sea, though it really comes from marine organisms living in the sea. I like this aspect about people there that they have their own ways of interpreting and understanding specific phenomenon. Um, beside being my hometown, what I really love about the city, that it was historically, uh, known as a cosmopolitan in a, uh, multicultural city from the greek era until the very first half of the 20th century. I haven’t been in Alexandria since I came to Germany. I cannot go back. Uh, but I have very fond memories and, uh, I remember whenever my friends and I walk beside the Paputic Alexandria, we would just imagine what would philosopher, greek philosopher hypatia, um, do. Maybe, uh, we just fantasize that she’s, uh, discussing.
