In my opinion, Sri Lankan people prefer to watch American films over local films. Sri Lankan culture is quite conservative, so Sri Lankan movies are also quite conservative, and they are mostly historical cinema or romantic love stories. There are not many action movies or thrillers in Sri Lankan cinema, so the wide variety of movies offered by American cinema is quite appealing to the Sri Lankan population.
