I think in German schools it's important nowadays because it's an actual topic for adults and also for parents who can't save money and invest for their future college or university, for example. I don't think this can be replaced by credit cards in the future because we have so many technologies. For example, in the 21st century, we have AI and robots that can replace or change money. You can use your credit cards to pay. For example, in movies, you may see that credit cards in the future are the best way to pay for someone or for anything.
