I think the size of the family has changed over the past few decades in my country because the cost of living has increased. Some people or families decide to decrease their family size by not having more children. For example, during my grandma's days, she had about six to seven children, but my immediate family has only two children. The main reason for this is that things have gotten much more expensive over the past few years, so having fewer children is the only way to cope with the rising cost of living.
