Well, I'd say it's a bit of a mixed bag. It can be seen as a waste of time if people are solely focused on taking pictures for social media validation. Unfortunately, smartphone photos often lack the quality of those taken with professional cameras. However, taking pictures with mobile phones is incredibly convenient. If you want to capture a beautiful landscape, you can easily do so with your phone. Especially nowadays, many high-quality mobile phones are available, like the iPhone 15 Pro Max or the Samsung Galaxy S24, which offer impressive camera capabilities.
