Band 8+: What kinds of movies do you like best?

Your pronunciation is quite good. Working on consistency and tackling difficult sounds may enhance clarity.

The answer directly addresses the question by specifying preferred movie genres, provides natural elaboration with reasons for liking them, and maintains a clear focus throughout. To further enhance, you could briefly mention an example or contrast with other genres, but the response is already well-developed and native-like.

The answer is well-organized and coherent, with a clear structure. The student introduces two preferred genres and explains why they like each. There is a minor issue with fluency: a slight pause or missing word ('scary' instead of 'scary film') and a run-on sentence ('as they are incredibly thought provoking and informative'). The refined version corrects this, but the raw answer still flows naturally overall. To improve, ensure complete phrases and avoid abrupt transitions.

The vocabulary is strong and precise, with good use of phrases like 'highly drawn to,' 'gripping historical dramas,' 'adrenaline rush,' 'delve into,' and 'thought-provoking.' The student demonstrates flexibility and precision. However, the phrase 'a good scary' is slightly informal and incomplete (should be 'a good scary film'). The refined version improves this. To reach band 9, use fully idiomatic expressions and avoid any informal gaps.

The grammar is mostly accurate, with a good range of structures: present simple, relative clauses ('that delve into'), and a compound sentence. However, there is a minor error: 'as they are incredibly thought provoking and informative' lacks a hyphen in 'thought-provoking' (a compound adjective). Also, the sentence 'I love the adrenaline rush from a good scary but I equally appreciate...' is missing a noun after 'scary' (should be 'scary film'). The refined version corrects these. To improve, ensure consistent use of hyphens in compound adjectives and complete all noun phrases.
