Due to the development of technology in modern days, I think governments choose to take more effort to regulate and decrease misinformation on the internet because now there is more information and people can access the internet more easily than in the past. This has led to the spread of some propaganda or deceit, such as scams or libel. So, regulation or measures from the government can benefit in protecting the population from misinformation, misunderstanding, and losing their networks to scammers and deceit in any format.
