In a developing country like Vietnam, a wide range of global food and beverage brands are imported, attracting a huge number of customers and helping them to spread their popularity throughout society. However, the number of customers cannot remain stable for a long period of time due to the prohibitive prices and local residents' preferences. A typical example of this is when McDonald's first came to Vietnam, everyone rushed there hoping to be the first customers. But that didn't last. After just a few months, people went back to local restaurants because of the affordable prices and convenience. So I would say that local businesses are still at a level that cannot be easily overtaken by any multinational chain.
