Well, I think it mainly depends on people’s level of awareness and personal values. Some individuals are more exposed to documentaries, education or even social media campaigns about endangered species. So they generally feel a sense of responsibility to act. For example, one of my friends became very passionate about protecting turtles after watching a reel on Instagram about some bullies attempt to break the turtle bow. On the other hand, there are people who may struggle with financial problems or prioritize your own daily needs over environmental issues. If someone is worried about paying debts or feeding their family, saving elephants in Africa or saving some kind of special animals might not be your top concern. So overall, it’s a mixture of education, personal priorities and sometimes even culture. In some societies, where respect for nature is a part of tradition.
