The map describes the expansion of the Chorleywood village which is located near London over a period from 1868 to 1994.
Overall, the transportation routes like railway and motorway had been developed during that period of time. The population in middle of the nineteenth century was the lowest. However, village growth had increased during mid-twentieth century. The major part of the people lived near to the transport facilities.
Firstly, the railway was built in 1909 along with railway station and its rout was intersecting with the main road. As a result, people started living near to the railway station. However, before 1909 they lived near to Chorleywood Park and golf course.
Secondly, major growth occurred in 1970 with the construction of the motorway rout and this rout was crossing by both main road and railway rout. The population was increased after 1970. Major part of it lived around the cross roads built between main road and motorway.
