The graph illustrates the percentage of male adults who regularly smoke in seven different countries alongside the world average, comparing the difference between 2000 and 2015.
Overall, the amount of male smokers has decreased from the year 2000, the resurgance of smoking is only seen in two of the countries presented.
Firstly, the countries that experienced a fall in consumption of tobacco are: Armenia, Bangladesh, Australia, Cuba and the world in general. The most drastic fall can be seen in Armenia, falling from around 65% to just above 50%, and Bangladesh plummeting from slightly more than 60% to just below 40%. On the other hand Cuba has experienced only a small change, remaining at just above 50%, but still the percentage fell slightly.
On the other side of the spectrum we have Egypt and Lebanon, who experienced a large spike in the percentage of smokers, from 35% to 50% and from 35% to 45% respectively.
To conclude, the world has seen a general downfall in tobacco consumption from 2000 to 2015. Only a select few countries are excluded from this trend.
