The line graph depicts projected changes in internet usage across four distinct activities, namely downloading films, sending emails, shopping and studying online courses, over the period from 2015 to 2030.
Overall, three of the four activities are anticipated to follow upward trajectories, with online shopping experiencing the most pronounced growth and becoming the predominant activity by 2030. In stark contrast, downloading films is the sole category forecast to undergo a sustained decline, eventually becoming the least prevalent activity.
With regard to the upward trends, shopping is projected to witness the most substantial increase. Having stood at approximately 40 in 2015, the figure is expected to surge to around 75 by 2020, before continuing its upward trajectory to approximately 88 in 2025 and peaking at just under 100 in 2030. Studying online courses is also anticipated to experience considerable growth, rising from roughly 35 in 2015 to 65 in 2020. Thereafter, the figure is projected to increase at a more moderate pace, reaching around 73 in 2025 and approximately 78 by the end of the period. By comparison, the use of the internet for sending emails is expected to remain relatively stable, edging up from 80 in 2015 to about 82 in 2020, before climbing gradually to approximately 86 in 2025 and 88 in 2030.
Turning to downloading films, a markedly contrasting pattern can be observed. The figure initially stood at around 70 in 2015, making it the second most widely used activity at the outset. However, it is projected to decline steadily, falling to approximately 60 in 2020 and subsequently dropping to around 50 in 2025. By 2030, the figure is forecast to reach just below 50, making downloading films the least prevalent of the four activities.
