The line graph compares the number of overseas visitors who went to the coast, the mountains and the lake in a European country between 1987 and 2007.
Overall, visits to the coast and the mountains increased over the period, while the figure for the lake rose sharply before falling at the end. The coast was the most popular area in 2007, whereas the mountains remained the least visited throughout.
In 1987, the coast attracted about 40 thousand visitors, making it the most popular destination. This figure fell slightly to around 35 thousand in 1992, before rising steadily to approximately 50 thousand in 1997 and 65 thousand in 2002. By 2007, the number had reached about 75 thousand.
The number of tourists visiting the mountains was much lower. It stood at roughly 20 thousand in 1987 and increased gradually to 25 thousand in 1997. After a small dip to just over 20 thousand in 2002, the figure climbed again to around 30 thousand by 2007.
By contrast, the lake saw the most dramatic change. Starting at only 10 thousand visitors in 1987, the number rose to about 25 thousand in 1992 and 40 thousand in 1997. It then peaked at approximately 75 thousand in 2002 before dropping to around 50 thousand in 2007.
