Overall, the New York city subway has the most lines in operation with the longest total length. The Beijing subway facilites the most annual rides for cheaper ticket price while that of London are the lowest and most costly, respectively.
The metro lines are the biggest scale in New York city, accounting for 24 lines, followed by Beijing and Paris metro system for 19 and 16 in that order. Whereas, Mexico city has the second-lowest number of lines (12), making London tube ranked the lowest for only 11. In terms of total length, other five city’s metro have their length shorter than that of New York city (659 miles) with its length is double that of Beijing (357 miles), making it the longest metro sytem.
Beijing and Tokyo subway system however, carry most passengers and contribute to a greater sum of annual journeys for 3.6 and 3.1 billions, respectively. Meanwhile, New York city only has 1.65 billion journeys, which is almost similiar to that of Mexico city and Paris. Although London Tube has the smallest journeys done annually, its ticket price is by far the highest of them all, which costs 7.30$ each. The cost from the other metro systems are all below 2.50$, in which ticket in Mexico City is the cheapest at only 0.25$.
