The line graph illustrates the amount of gold sold in Dubai each month in 2002, measured in millions of Dirhams.
Overall, gold sales experienced considerable fluctuations throughout the year. Sales peaked in March before undergoing a general decline until July. Although there were some recoveries later in the year, sales never returned to their earlier high.
In January, gold sales started at around 200 million Dirhams and slightly increased in February to approximately 225 million. A sharp rise was recorded in March, when sales reached the highest point of the year at about 350 million Dirhams. However, this was followed by a noticeable downward trend over the next four months. In April, the figure dropped to 250 million, and by July, it had declined significantly to just over 100 million Dirhams.
In August, gold sales recovered to nearly 200 million Dirhams, but this rebound was short-lived, as the figure again fell to around 110 million in September. From October to December, sales showed a slight upward trend, ranging between 170 and 190 million Dirhams. Despite some improvements towards the end of the year, none of the final months came close to the sales levels seen in the first quarter.
