The data demonstrates amount of studies in genome sequencing throughout the world in humans, animals and plants from 2015 to 2024.
Overall, amount of studies for each species increased in 9 years. Even though amount of studies for each species were similar in the beginning, human studies dramatically increased among all species and far more than animal and plant studies.
Number of human genome sequencing studies are below 2000 studies in the beginning, in 2015. 3 years later, amount of human studies is just under 2000. In 2021, human studies are around 4000 and in 2024, just more than 8000 human genome sequencing projects are performed. From 2015 to 2024, number of human genome sequencing studies increased more than 4 times.
Amount of genome sequencing studies of all the species which are human, animal and plant were similar to each other in 2015. Human studies are marginally more than other but since all the studies were less than 2000 studies, this difference could be neglectible. In studies performed for all species increased in every 3 years until 2024, human studies were the most conducted studies and followed by animal studies. Plants were the least studied species in that era. Animal studies were slightly more than plant studies every 3 years, but amount of human studies massively higher than both animal and plant studies. Number of animal and plant studies were under 2000 and more than 2000 before 2021 and in 2024, respectively.
