In 1995, the percentage of individuals born in Australia residing in urban areas was 50%, which was higher compared to those in rural (30%) and town areas (20%). However, by 2010, there was a notable increase of 15% in the proportion of individuals born in Australia living in urban areas, while the figures for those born in town and rural areas remained constant at 18%.

In contrast, the percentage of individuals born outside Australia residing in urban areas surged from 60% in 1995 to 80% in 2010. Additionally, the percentage of individuals born outside Australia living in rural areas remained constant at 10% in 1995, while those in town areas decreased to 25% by 2010.
