The chart shows the information about how many electric cars were sold in China, Europe, and the United States from 2016 to 2023.
Overall, the sales of electric cars increased significantly in all countries thoughout the period. Notably, electric cars became the most popular in China in 2023, while the sales of those in the US did not as high as other countries in the list.
To start, this kind of cars was not popular. In 2016, the sales did not even reach half of a million in all nations. After several years, the sale of electric cars in China increased gradually. In 2018, China’s sale reached a million of cars. Europe aslo saw an increase at that time, in 2020, it managed to overtake China in sales – about 1,200,000 cars were sold. However, the sale of US did not almost change, constituting less than 500,000.
By contrast, after 2020, these figures started to jump. In 2021, China experienced a considerable rise of more than two millions in its number of cars sold. After that, it increased again to 6 millions, and in last year, its number accounted for 8,000,000 cars. In Europe, the sale of electric cars rose to more than 2 millions in 2021. In 2023, it increased again and took up more than 3 millions of car. Similarly, the US increased to about 500,000 in 2021. After year, it eventually made up about 700,000 cars.
