The bar chart shows the number of households in the United States divided into five income groups in the years 2007, 2011 and 2015.
Overall, it can be seen that the number of households earning the highest income increased over time, while the lower income groups changed only slightly. The largest figures in all years were households with income of $100,000 or more.
In 2007, around 30 million households earned $100,000 or more, which was the highest number among all categories. People earning between $50,000 and $74,999 accounted for about 25 million households, while those earning under $25,000 were slightly lower at around 24 million. The lowest figure was for households with income between $75,000 and $99,999.
In 2011, the number of low-income households increased a little, especially for those earning less than $25,000. However, the number of households in the highest income group dropped slightly compared to 2007. By 2015, this trend changed, and households earning over $100,000 rose sharply to about 33 million, becoming clearly the largest group again.
