Overall, detached houses and terrace houses showed an upward trend, whereas semi-detached houses and flats declined over the period. It is also noticeable that detached houses recorded the highest figure, while flats remained the lowest in the final year.
At the beginning of the period, the figure for detached houses stood at 1,800, compared with 1,550 for flats. Detached houses then rose gradually to 2,000 in 2001 before reaching 2,250 in the final year. By contrast, flats fell from 1,550 to 900 over the same period.
Meanwhile, terrace houses began at 1,000 and fluctuated between 1,000 and 1,300. It subsequently rose to 1,300 by the end of the period. The figure for semi-detached houses, however, dropped steadily from 1,800 to approximately 1,200. By 2002, detached houses reached a peak of 2,250.
