The chart illustrates the outcome of a British survey on the types of accommodation individuals liked, which was taken in the year 2005.
It is crystal clear that flats were the most popular type of housing in London, whereas detached houses accounted for the lowest percentage of housing in the UK.
In 2005, flats were recorded as having the highest number of housing, at approximately 58%, which subsequently decreased to 30% and 20% in Oxford and Cambridge respectively, reflecting a moderate reduction of 28 and 38 percentage points respectively. In addition, terraced houses showed a similar trend among the three cities, all of which showed figures within the 16% to 19% range proportionately.
The proportion of detached houses in London was about 10%, being lower than the Oxford rate by around 25%, then it rose significantly to almost 35% in Cambridge city, making a substantial growth of one in ten. In contrast, semi-detached houses in Oxford and Cambridge had almost similar proportions at nearly
28%
