The bar chart illustrates the expectations of European young people regarding changes in the next 20 years in five various areas, including health, air quality, water quality, food quality, and people’s communication. Overall, what stands out is that the figures varied significantly across five sectors, with people’s communication expected to improve noticeably in the future, with the highest proportion, while air quality will lag well behind the other categories. Although air quality will have the lowest figure in “will improve”, it will be the dominant sector in “get worse”. Notably, the opposite trend to that seen in the “will improve” category.
With regard to “will improve”, the largest percentage will be observed in people’s communication at roughly 65%, followed by food quality and health, with the respective figures of about 50% and 45%. Water quality, however, will have 40%, and air quality is likely to become the smallest proportion with just around 25%.
In contrast, “get worse” will account for a considerably different scenario. Air quality is projected to represent 75%, making it the leading category. Water and health, conversely, will display almost identical shares, at approximately 60% and 55% respectively. In terms of food quality, the share will stand at 50%, which is forecast to become similar to that in “will improve”. Lastly, the lowest percentage is estimated to be seen in people’s communication at a mere 35%.
