Overall, it is clear that outdoor activities, namely hiking and skiing, were the leading holiday preferences. It is notable that while Chinese tourists showed a distinct preference for city breaks, staying at home was the least popular choice for all the countries surveyed.
Regarding the most popular holiday choices, outdoor activities like hiking and skiing were prominent preferences for several countries. Hiking is the highest overall in the chart in New Zealand, approximately 40%, which was significantly higher than other three countries. The figure for Australia was much higher than those of China and South Korea, with figures of just over 25%, 20% and about 13%, respectively. Turning to skiing, this was also a major choice of people in Australia, New Zealand and Korea , at around 27%, 30% and 30% respectively, while the figure for China was lower, at 20%.
As for the remaining three categories, holiday preferences showed considerable variation among the four countries. The percentage of people favouring the city in China was the highest, at 30%, whereas this option was the least popular in New Zealand, at around 8%. The beach was a relatively popular option, but not the leading choice in any country. Australia accounted for the highest proportion, at 25%, compared to lower figures of around 18-20% in the other nations. Finally, staying at home was the least common preference across all four countries, with no figure exceeding 15%. China recorded the highest rate, at 13%, whereas the lowest was in Australia, at just 6%.
