Overall, there was a tremendous surge of the percentage of adults that were overweight during the period. It is also noticeable that the highest and lowest rates of weight range of the adults in 2015 were obese and severely obese, respectively.
Regarding the given statistics, the rate of overweight and obese adults accounted for around 46% in 1965. This figure was stable and had a minority change from 1965 to 1985. 10 years later, the percentage steadily increased and reached a peak of over 70% in 2015, which was the highest rate in the entire surveyed period.
Turning to the remaining categories, there were only 6% of adults that had severe obesity, whilst the percentage of obese adults was roughly sixfold than that, at 39%, in 2015. In addition to this similarity, it was the highest recorded figure. Furthermore, the proportion of healthy/ underweight and overweight people were nearly identical, at 29% for healthy adults and 31% for overweight adults.
