The bar chart illustrates the percentage of Australian men and women who participated in regular physical activity in 2010 across six different age groups.
Overall, women were more active than men in most age categories, except for the youngest group. The most noticeable gender gap was seen in the 35 to 44 age group, while both genders had nearly identical participation in the oldest group.
In the 15 to 24 age group, 52.8% of men were physically active, compared to 47.7% of women. However, in all other age groups, women consistently had higher activity rates. Female participation increased steadily, peaking at 53.3% in the 45 to 54 age group, before dropping slightly to 47.1% in the 65 and over group.
In contrast, male participation decreased significantly from 52.8% to 39.5% between the 15 to 44 age groups, then rose gradually to 46.7% in the oldest category, almost matching the female rate.
