The bar graph illustrates the proportion of males and females between 18 and 20 involving in five different sports in a month in 2015. Overall, the percentage of women who participated in swimming, cycling comprised a larger segment than men, while basketball, football and hockey went in the opposite direction. In addition, football was the most preferred sport of males, whereas females were fascinated by cycling.
Focus on basketball,football and hockey, the figure for males taking part in basketball was roughly triple that of females, about 32% and 12%, respectively. Notably, the participation of males in football was significantly higher than females.While the former made up 51%,the latter accounted for 36% less than that, standing at 15%. Bottom of the list was hockey, which was the least popular category, just above one-tenth of males and one-twentieth of females choosing this activity.
In terms of the other two leisure activities, they were favored by females more than males.To be more precise, the proportion of females in swimming accounted for approximately 35%, which was nearly double the rate of males (20%). The difference between the figure of males and females in cycling was less pronounced. About 40% of females cycled per month, higher than the figure for males by about 5%.
