The bar chart compares the figures for male and female adults aged between 18 and 20 in terms of engaging in five different sport activities in one month in 2015.
As can be seen, the proportion of male footballer took the lead whereas the opposite was true for female participants in hockey. Additionally, males and females involving in cycling nearly tied with each other but the rate of males was slightly higher.
According to the chart, football recorded the highest rate in males participating, stood at over 50% which approximately quadrupled that of female players, at around 15%. The figure for young males joining basketball was over 30%, 20% higher when compared to female’s rate. However, female swimmers experienced the highest at about 35% as opposed to only 20% of males who engaged in swimming.
As is observed, hockey witnessed the lowest percentage of participants of both sexes, with over 10% of males which nearly tripled that of females. Moreover, figures for females and males involving in cycling did not show much difference, with around 35% and 40% of men and women respectively.
