The bar chart illustrates the proportion of school children learning to play four distinctive musical instruments namely piano, drums, guitar, violin over the 10-year period from 2005. It can be seen from the graph that the total number of students learning musical instruments substantially soared in 2015, which is the final year under study.
To begin with, the 2005’s figure demonstrated that only around 10 percent of pupils chose to play the piano, the guitar and the drums. Meanwhile, this number is merely 5% for violin players. 5 years later, the number of students learning piano and guitar considerably doubled since 2005, accounting for around 20% of students. By contrast, this figure for drums and violon remained unchanged over the period from 2005 to 2010. Finally, the percentage of students learning piano and guitar experienced a wild increase to reach nearly 40% in 2015. However, the amount of students learning drums slightly edged up and this figure for violin gradually edged down.
From 2005 to 2010, piano had came top in attracting learners. In 2015, the rate of students taking up the guitar rocketed remarkably, making it the most played instrument.
