The bar chart compares the percentage of students participating in four different sports – football, basketball, tennis, and swimming – in Country X across two specific years, 2010 and 2020.
Overall, football remained the most favored activity throughout the ten-year period despite experiencing a decline in popularity. Conversely, swimming and tennis both saw an upward trend, with swimming recording the most pronounced increase among all four sports.
In 2010, football was by far the most dominant sport, engaging just under 60% of students (roughly 56%). Basketball followed as the second most popular choice, attracting around 41% of participants. By 2020, interest in both sports had waned; football participation fell to approximately 47%, while basketball experienced a modest drop to roughly 37%. Despite these reductions, football retained its top position.
In contrast, individual and aquatic sports witnessed growth over the decade. Participation in tennis rose from approximately 27% in 2010 to just over 30% (32%) in 2020. Swimming experienced an even more substantial surge, growing from 35% to roughly 38%, maintaining its place above tennis and closing the gap on basketball by the end of the period.
