Overall, while male teenagers showed more preference toward outdoor activities, female teenagers tended to enjoy indoor ones more. Additionally, sports were the most popular among boys, whereas art and craft were the most favoured among girls.
Around 27% of boys played sports in their free time, which was the largest figure in the chart, far exceeding that of girls, at about 12%. Similarly, the share of male adolescents going to the park doubled that of their female counterparts, with respective figures being 25% and approximately 12%. Notably, playing computer games was the only recreational activity in which no gender disparities were observed, accounting for 15% of both sexes.
Regarding categories that were female-dominated, artistic and crafting pursuits attracted one-fourth of girls, compared to just roughly 6% of boys, constituting a fourfold gap. Similarly, while about 17% of female teenagers opted to read books in their spare time, only 10% of male teenagers did so. The gender gap was less pronounced in watching DVDs, with around 17% of girls and 15% of boys spending time on this pastime.
