Overall, private studios are by far the most popular venue for dance lessons. Furthermore, most students aged under 11 choose ballet, whereas the older cohort (aged 11 to 16) prefers modern dance lessons.
Regarding the locations of classes, private studios account for the largest proportion at 48%. After-school sessions in school halls represent exactly half of that figure at 24%, followed by community halls and others at 18%. The least popular venue is college-based studios, which stood at merely 10%.
In terms of the dance categories, the number of students aged under 11 is double that of students aged 11 to 16 who chose ballet, standing at 600 and 300, respectively. Meanwhile, modern dance attracts the largest volume of the older group at more than 500 students compared to just 300 students for the younger group. In contrast, the number of students for both groups is relatively similar for tap dance, with roughly 450 for those aged under 11 and approximately 420 for participants aged between 11 and 16.
