The line graph show the percentage of European people in different age groups who went to the gym one or more time per month from 1990 to 2010.
Overall, it can be seen that gym attendance increased in all age groups during the period. People aged 18-24 were the most active group, while the 45 and over age group had the lowest figures. In general, all groups follow an upward trend.
In 1990, about 7% of people aged 18-24 visited the gym regularly. This number rose slowly and reached nearly 30% in 1998. After that, it increased sharply to around 60% in 2006, but then it fell slightly and finish at about 58% in 2010. The percentage of people aged 25-34 also increased, from around 8% at the beginning to almost 50% at the end of the period.
For the 35-44 age group, the figure went up from about 5% to nearly 40%. However, people aged 45 and over showed the slowest growth, rising only from around 3% to just above 20%.
