The chart shows changes in the percentage of women’s age in Australia when they gave birth to their first child between 1966 and 2006.

Overall , the data shows difference among the women becoming mothers in different age groups. The number of women aged 19-20, 25-30 and 30-34 are significantly higher, whereas the women aged under 19, 34-39 and over 40 are less in the period given.

It is noticeable that the percentage of women aged 19-24 was the most (62%) in 1996, in the next years it decreased. By contrast the group of 30-34 increased every 20 years and it surpassed others(45%) in 2006. The portion of 25-30 ages rose to 50%, howeverit decreased again after 20 years.
