In 2001, households with microwave and CD players were 80% and 70%, respectively. As regards mobile phones, in 2001, just under 30% of families owned them, while the figure was 80% after seven years.
The percentage of British households owning a home computer was about 35% in 2001, or before; it increased just below 70% in the second year, whereas the proportion of clothes and dryer ownership increased by 10% from 2001 to 2008. The number of families with the internet was 10% in 2001, six times as high as in 2008. The amount of dishwasher ownership was 20% in 2001 before experiencing a twofold increase in 2008.
