In general, a majority of boys prefers playing games on the consoles, while chatting is more popular among girls at these ages.
According the chart, there are as many boys as girls sending messages online less than an hour a day, whereas more girls spend longer hours on the Internet for chatting, with more than 10% higher of than that of boys.
In addition, just about 30% of 10- to 15-year-old boys play game with consoles in/for under an hour, which is less than 8% of girls who also engage in this activity. The figures experience a contrast when considering the higher amount of time, from 1 to 3 hours. The percentage of boys recorded (about 52%) is doubled than that of the girls, and there is a simliar trend with the figures of 10% and 2% for boys and girls playing more than 4 hours, respectively.
The findings suggest that girls might prefer a more social-connected and sharing activities, while playing games is more preferable for boys as they may be more interested in strategic and competitive ways of entertainment.
