Band 6+: The chart below shows the changes that took place in three different areas of crime in Newport city centre from 2003-2012. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Write atleast 150 words.

The line graph compares the main three crime incidents in the inner city in between the years 2003 and 2012.

Overall, it is clear that, the attempt for burglary decreased throughout the period, whereas, car theft experienced a sudden decline in 2006,but it increased its rate at the end of the year.Besides,the number of robbery cases fluctuated from 2003 to 2012.

To begin with, in 2004, around 3700 cases were reported for burglary and it was recorded as the highest level in the graph. After that, its number begin to decline and reached just over 1100 in 2008.From 2009 till 2012 the criminal rate for burglary plateaued with a constant value of around 1400. Simultaneously, the incident cases for car theft in the first three years were constant,but there was a sudden drop down in 2006 reaching its value just above 2000. Thereafter, the number of cases increased and reached just below 3000 , similar to that of the cases at the beginning of the year.

Contrastingly, the number of robbery attempts varied constantly from 500 to 700 and above. This trend in pattern contained throughout the year.
