The line graph illustrates changes in three types of crime in the central part of Manchester from 2003 to 2012.
Overall, burglary exhibited the most significant fluctuations and experienced the largest decrease. At the beginning of this period, it was the most common crime; in contrast, car theft and robbery remained relatively stable throughout the entire time frame.
In 2003, burglary increased slightly, reaching a peak of about 3,750 cases in 2004. However, it then underwent a substantial decline, ending with approximately 1,400 cases in 2012.
Robbery fluctuated throughout the entire period, maintaining numbers between about 500 and 900, which makes it the most stable of the three crimes. Car theft was slightly more variable than robbery but still less so compared to burglary. It showed a marked increase after 2008.
The crime with the most alarming upward trend is car theft, although robbery may also see an increase. Burglary has dropped significantly and is likely to continue its decline.
