The given line graph illustrates the number of three types of crime, namely burglary, car theft and robbery in Manchester city centre over a period 9 years starting from 2003.
Overall, the number of robbery and car theft stabilized relatively while that of burglary witnessed some fluctuations. Besides, the quantity of robbery was the lowest throughout the period shown.
From 2003 to 2006, the share of the burglary dominated the number of crimes. In detail, the quantity of the burglary accounted for around 3450 cases in 2003 and continued to gradually increase to 3750 cases in 2006. During the period between 2006 and 2007, the number of criminal burglars dropped sharply from about 2600 cases to 1600 cases; as a result, the quantity of the car theft supplanted the figure for burglary in 2007 at approximately 2200 cases. After a significant decrease, the figure for burglary dwindled slowly to around 1100 cases.
From 2008 onwards, the number of crimes about three types given didn’t fluctuate. The number of car thefts climbed significantly over the years and reached 2800 cases in 2012. From then until the end of the period, car thefts occupied the top position among all types of crimes. Moreover, the figure for burglary witnessed an upward trend and occupied approximately 1400 cases at the end of the period. At the lowest place is the quantity of robbery which rose gradually and reached around 600 cases in 2012.
