Overall, it’s clear that countries in western countries dominated the top ten. The major number of international students was in UK, France, Canada, and Australia.
In more detail, the total number of international students was around 1.4 million. By far the largest number, however, was UK, was just under 500,000 students. With half as many as UK, Australia came second, with slightly fewer than 300,000 international students. The figure for France, ranked third, was almost same as Australia at 260,000 students. As for Canada, ranked after France with 200,000 international students. The figure numbers of international students from Switzerland, Spain, New Zealand, and Netherlands were similar, standing at 50,000, 60,000, 53,000, and 82,000 respectively. The other countries in the top ten, namely Thailand and Mexico, each had just around or under 20,000 students residing corresponding country in 2019, according to the chart.
