Overall, it is clear that China had the highest number of applicants to the university throughout the period, while Russia consistently had the lowest. Besides, it is obvious that the figure for America showed some fluctuation, ending with the highest number in 2008.
Looking at China and America, China started with the highest figure of around 27,500 students in 2004, which then decreased to just over 20,000 in 2005. The figure for China then remained stable at around 17,500 in 2006 and 2007, before continuing to fall to 15,000 in 2008. In contrast, America’s number of applicants showed considerable fluctuations over the period. It began at approximately 20,000 in 2004, dropped to 15,000 in 2005, recovered to 17,500 in 2006, and then saw a decline to 10,000 in 2007. However, in 2008, the number of applications from America increased dramatically, reaching the highest figure at 27,500.
Regarding Japan and Russia, the number of applicants from Japan showed a slow increase over the period. Starting at approximately 5,000 in 2004, it gradually rose to around 6,000 in 2005, then to 8,000 in 2006, and reached almost 10,000 by 2007, where it remained in 2008. For Russia, the number of applicants initially increased from less than 1,000 in 2004 to about 2,500 in 2005, and further to approximately 7,500 in 2007, indicating a rise. However, this figure dropped significantly to around 3,000 in the final year.
