In 1995, John f. Kennedy had the highest number of passengers at approximately 28 million, followed by Laguardia at around 35 million. Newark recorded the lowest number of passengers at just under 20 million. By 1996, LaGuardia’s passenger numbers had overtaken John F. Kennedy’s reaching around 41 million, while John F. Kennedy recorded 35 million. Newarks passenger numbers also increased to around 26 million.
Over the following years, both John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia saw continued growth, although at different rates. By 2000, Laguardia reached almost 70 million passengers , while John F. Kennedy had risen to approximately 44 million. Newark’ growth was more gradual, reaching around 41 million passengers by the end of the period.
